The third of three weddings.. Iyant is the son of Sharmila from school and he married Navita. This is one of the many pre-wedding events. It was in Mahendragarh, still in the state of Haryana and about 4 hours bus drive away from Faridabad, depending on bus break-downs and bus drivers going alternative ways. In this event, the local women, who are women from Sharmila’s childhood, come to her place and ‘take her away’. I’m not totally sure why but it all seems very friendly and she remained in once piece throughout. There is much dancing and much much eating. Sharmila’s brother runs a high school and university and is well known in Mahendragarh and as a consequence the wedding made it into the local papers. See my personal press agent for your copy.
